Intro to 3D Design and 3D Printing

This is a combined class to teach you the basics of 3D modeling design and 3D printing. After this class you will be able to create your own 3D designs and print them using the 3D printer. Students will:Learn what 3D design is and how to create your own designs using 3D software. Learn how to prepare a 3D design fileLearn how to use the equipment properly and safelyReview the rules and policies of using the 3D printersStudents will make a small print (1in³) to take home after the print run (usually ready the next day). An open discussion of 3D printing follows the training session. This tool training is required before members can use the 3D Printer. This class is two sessions: March 19 & March 26, 6-8 pm Software: OnShape, (Brief overview on Fusion 360, Blender, and others) Equipment: Ultimaker 3, 8.5” x 8.5” x 7.9” build volume, PLA model material
